Erser Group, building momentum with Ankara Un, eyes new acquisitions

Low-Interest Investment in Agricultural Production   A decision has been published regarding the provision of low-interest investment and operational loans for agricultural production by Ziraat Bank Inc. and Agricultural Credit Cooperatives.

The Chairman of the Board of the Konya Commodity Exchange, Muhammet Uğur Kaleli, stated that the wheat and barley prices in the free market today are showing a positive trend for farmers. He mentioned that while producers in the Konya Plain were distressed by the decreasing yield, they were relieved by the prices that have formed. Kaleli said, "In the Konya Plain, the yield has decreased by about 30% due to drought, but thanks to the improved quality, wheat prices are now 40% above last year's TMO intervention price. The 2014 harvest wheat arriving at the Konya Commodity Exchange Electronic Sales Hall is currently being traded between 850 and 1,050 TRY per ton. The prices are above last year's levels."

It is evident that the wheat market has an indispensable role in the economic life of Konya. However, for agricultural production to be carried out efficiently, transformation in all areas is inevitable. In order for the Konya Plain to realize its agricultural advantages, 'licensed warehousing' is now being discussed. Erkan Genç, a Board Member of Ali Çavuşoğulları Agricultural Products Transport and Chemical Fertilizer Dealer Limited Company, which was the first company in Turkey to start the licensed warehousing business—an end to the wheat market—explained this.
